Last night was Amavasya ( new moon?), likely there was full tide ( I'm only guessing ) plus Star Ananda was promising a magnificent show of meteorite showers in the North East sky - gleaned in between open mouthed dozing before the tv set at 11 pm.
So it all boils down to a cosmic conspiracy plus some connivance with the "lethargetic"( The Wise All Knowing One's English, not mine ) Calcutta Corporation headed by the Page 3 Mayor (who spends more time cutting ribbons and inauguating exhibitions than looking after his city in a constructive manner) and represented by a bleary and pouchy eyed nogood in our part of town.
Evidently Calcutta Corporation does not appear to be equipped with either the infrastructure or the inclination or the expertise to pump the water out - this despite much digging of roads and inserting storm drains at strategic points .
Unfortunately the cable tv is off , otherwise one could have watched Sumon of Star Ananda taking on the mayor on the waterlogging issue . For all those who need boats to combat deep waters in the city , there are at least one dozen lying in the fields adjacent to the Eastern side of the Dhakuria lakes , donated by Japan . Feel free , since the authorities do not seem to have much use for them .
Last night I closed the windows when I went to sleep - I woke up around 2 - to find all the windows open and rain spattering in through them . The rood bachha had somehow felt the need to be one with the elements ...

Eto Brishti naki ?
It puts our recent flooding into perspective. I hope things are improving for you.
our rains seem to be over! Lovely to see the sun and have the lovely post monsoon breezes.
We are in the middle of rainy weather, too. Forecast calls for rain till Friday. And it started on Saturday. It been misty-like the last three days, with rain in-between. This is so unusual.
